"Vermont, Vital Records, 1760-1954," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XF74-Z9G : accessed 12 Dec 2012), Jas. S. Fairman, 1903. |
The typed entry for the name reads "Fairman, Jas. S."
The problem is that this typed card was probably made from a handwritten record. And that handwritten record probably said "Jos. S. Fairman," because the individual in question was actually named Joseph Sargent Fairman.
One letter makes a difference.
