When You Find That 1940 Census Enumeration

The obvious goes without saying (but we'll say it anyway):

  • save the image
  • transcribe the information
  • look for clues to other records
  • cite the document
But have you thought about taking that 1940 census enumeration where you find your parents/grandparents to them and asking them about the names of the neighbors? Using those names as a springboard to discussion  may get their memories working in ways they haven't before. Prompting them with names of people can be better than asking some of the typical questions we ask.

Just something else to do with those enumerations.
