earlier blog post mentioned that in the will record of this will, the word "balance" was spelled incorrectly and underlined. There was a reason for that. The word was spelled incorrectly in the original will. This image comes from the microfilmed copy of the estate packet of Mimken Habben, case file 113, Hancock County, Illinois probate case files. Habben's will, written in 1877 contained the mispelling and the clerk copied it as it. The clerk's job was not to change or alter the document at all.
